Scholarship Overview
This scholarship supports healthcare professionals who have recently completed a healthcare degree program and are paying off student loans. The program recognizes student loan debt obligations can be barriers to career progression and professional development.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Active ACHE Membership: Applicants must maintain active membership with the Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) chapter, defined as participation in at least two (2) HLNY events within the past 18 months.
Graduation Timeline: Applicants are eligible if they graduated from an accredited healthcare degree program no more than five (5) years prior to the application date.
Early Careerist Status: Classified as an Early Careerist under ACHE’s definition (under the age of 40 as of the application deadline).
Community Impact: Applicants must demonstrate meaningful community service or volunteer work that reflects a commitment to the healthcare profession and local communities.
Essay Requirement (Maximum 600 Words): Applicants must submit an essay describing their commitment to the healthcare profession and explaining how receiving this scholarship to help pay off student loans will support their career progression and professional development.
Professional References: Provide two letters of recommendation, one from a leader within your current organization and one from an industry leader familiar with your work.
Loan Verification: As part of the final selection process, applicants may be asked to provide proof of student loan obligations, such as a loan statement or summary document, to confirm eligibility related to educational debt.
Applicants may apply for only one scholarship per cycle. Individuals who have received any HLNY Foundation scholarship are not eligible to apply for another Foundation award until three (3) years have passed since their most recent award year.
